Most asked questions at Cherwell

How do I request a quote for glazing services?

If you’re seeking a comprehensive quote for glazing services, we highly recommend initiating the process by scheduling a personalized showroom meeting with one of our knowledgeable sales consultants. This meeting can be arranged at the showroom that best suits your convenience. We firmly believe that this approach allows us to provide a tailored service that aligns perfectly with your needs, rather than simply quoting a price for a generic solution.

In order to generate a detailed and precise quotation for your project, or to establish a starting point during your initial consultation, we will request specific details about your project via email. Please ensure to include the following information, wherever possible:

  • The type of glazing solution you require (e.g., Windows, Bi-Folds, Sliders, etc.)
  • Your envisioned aesthetic for the glazing
  • Any existing opening sizes or the specific dimensions you require
  • The location or address of the project
  • An email address and telephone number for us to send the quotation or to reach out for any additional information

If you have floor plans, elevations, or any other architectural drawings prepared for your project, please include these as they can provide valuable insights for an accurate and tailored quotation.

When you’re ready for your Cherwell consultation and quotation, kindly forward your project details and relevant information to us via email at sales@cherwelluk.com. Our team will ensure prompt and efficient assistance with your glazing needs.

Useful industry questions

Is an architect necessary for my project?

At Cherwell, we understand the significance of incorporating an architect, particularly for projects involving substantial building or extension work. It’s important to note that we do not provide planning permission services or undertake general building works related to installations. Involving an architect is crucial as they can oversee the design and coordination of additional elements necessary for the successful execution of your project.

When should I plan for glazing in my project timeline?ne?

In short, it’s best to consider your glazing requirements as early as possible. One common error is treating glazing as an afterthought, leading to project delays caused by underestimating lead times for surveys, ordering, and the manufacturing of customised systems. We recommend contacting us as soon as you have your opening sizes available. This allows us to align our planning with your project timeline effectively.

What is a U-Value?

A U-Value is the measurement of the overall rate of heat transfer through a specific section of construction under standard conditions. In simpler terms, it indicates how efficiently a component transmits heat from the inside to the outside. A lower U-Value implies a slower heat transfer rate, indicating better thermal insulation. For optimal energy efficiency, the goal is to achieve a lower U-Value. According to current building regulations, windows must meet a minimum U-Value of 1.2 W/m²K.
